Lacrosse in Pole Position in Edinburgh

Lacrosse took part in a Polish investment conference in Edinburgh entitled “Pole Position” on 26 February 2015
Lawrence Fahrenholz and Leszek Banaszak of the Polish Embassy in the UK

The conference was organised by the Polish Business Chamber in Scotland, the office of the Polish Consul General in Edinburgh and the Trade and Investment Promotion Section of the Polish Embassy in London.

Lacrosse founder Lawrence Fahrenholz, who hails from Scotland, delivered a presentation on his experience of doing business in Poland since the launch of Lacrosse in 1997. Lawrence observed that nowadays Polish companies have far more sophisticated language needs: they require the localisation of websites, software and mobile applications and consciously use language as a tool to support sales and marketing in a global marketplace. Polish companies have moved well beyond the basic need to be understood in a foreign language. Lawrence noted that the clients Lacrosse works with are very aware of having to compete in the languages of the customers they are selling to.
Data security was also mentioned as an issue of increasing concern for companies. Thanks to it’s advanced IT infrastructure Lacrosse ensures the confidentiality of data entrusted to it by the company’s clients. The material is not downloaded to the hard drives of external subcontractors and is translated without leaving the secure Lacrosse IT environment.

David Kennedy, Lacrosse associate marketing director, also a Scot, briefed attendees on the findings of a survey he conducted on Scots living and working in Poland. The small, highly entrepreneurial community of Scots is based primarily in Warsaw. Many came before or shortly after Poland joined the EU, with most setting down roots here, forming relationships with Poles. According to David’s findings, 76% of those polled said that while Poland remained a harder place to do business than the UK, the country is increasingly perceived as being committed to implementing business-friendly policies.
